Recruiting Organization: Friends of Constru Casa, USA

Friends of Constru Casa, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the work of Constru Casa in Guatemala through fundraising and building awareness of families living in extreme poverty, currently has openings for new general board members and the board Presidency.

To gain a better understanding and appreciation for the work of Constru Casa, we suggest you visit our website: While the media in the United States focuses on the ongoing border crisis and surging migrant population from Guatemala in particular, our efforts focus on addressing the root causes related to family instability. We have constructed over 1400 homes and 200 community buildings since 2004, working throughout the departments of Guatemala.

Expectations of general board members, (non-officers) include participation in bi-monthly board meetings held through video conferencing, developing an understanding of how the Constru Casa organization functions and our part in sustaining that mission, and most importantly, to support the organization through fundraising.

Approaches to fundraising vary according to each board member’s preferences and relationships. Typically, board members are provided a variety of projects awaiting funding that have been compiled in conjunction with over thirty partner organizations. The scope of the projects vary in scale, with board members having the freedom to choose projects that are particularly compelling and to set their own time tables for funding. Often board members choose to visit their projects during or after their completion, meeting families and sharing in the celebration of your life-changing efforts. These trips often galvanize a board member’s sense of purpose and motivation.
