Recruiting Organization: Advoz: Mediation & Restorative Practices

Our mission here at Advoz is to transform conflict and build community through face-to-face dialogue programs. But this is made possible by our many skilled and generous volunteers.

Advoz Restorative Justice dialogue facilitators are trained in a step-by-step method to help people who've been harmed ("victims") and those who've caused harm ("offenders") to process that harm and if they're willing, address making things right in a face-to-face dialogue.

Our Restorative Justice Conferencing program works generally with youth referred via local juvenile court or pre-court referrals after they've caused harm in the community, whether it be property damage, theft, assault and other.

Facilitators are able to convene a process that is often transformative for those present, including unexpectedly strong empathy, kindness, helpfulness and forgiveness. The process serves as both healing for those harmed and positive accountability for those needing support to change their behavior.

To be a volunteer facilitator, Advoz requires you to apply, take a training in both Conflict, Communication & Culture and in Restorative Conferencing and observe other facilitators. Two background checks are required as per all Advoz programs. See also: Volunteer - Advoz
