---------About SHE SOARS

She Soars stands for Sexual and reproductive Health & Economic empowerment (SHE)

Supporting Out of school Adolescent girls' Rights and Skills (SOARS). This is a multi-year, collaborative project implemented by the Youth Coalition for Sexual & Reproductive Rights, Restless Development, Center for Reproductive Rights and CARE, funded by Global Affairs Canada. It looks to directly benefit, through strategies for advancing SRHR and Economic Empowerment, 203,370 out-of-school adolescent girls in Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. ---------What is the Youth Advisory Board (YAB)?

The implementing partners of SHE SOARS are committed to meaningfully engage young people in the initiatives targeting them. Therefore, we see the need of creating a youth-led body that allows young people to lead as experts of their own realities. The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a body of young people within SHE SOARS that is meant to center the needs of youth from Kenya, Uganda and Zambia, by promoting meaningful youth engagement in the design, implementation and accountability of the project.

---------Eligibility

If you are a young person from Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda between 18-28 years old, you are eligible to apply! Six young people will be selected for the Youth Advisory Board. The YAB is a space designed by young people for young people, so we ask that those who choose to participate respect the age limits.

**Only young people from Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda are eligible.**

The age eligibility criteria is as follows:

We will select one person from each country between the ages of 18-22 years old

We will select one person from each country between the ages of 23-28 years old.

Young advocates, leaders from local youth-led organizations (YLO’s), collectives, networks (even informal ones) are eligible and will be given preference. However, please note that the mandate of the YAB members is on an individual basis.

---------Time commitment & compensation

-The time commitment of each YAB member will be of 10 to 20 hours per month, from January 2021 to December 2023.

-The mandate of this YAB will last two years. A new YAB will be elected every two years to allow other youth to hold leadership roles within the project.

-Those who are selected as Youth Advisory Board members will receive a compensation of 20 CAD per hour.

-The YAB will receive appropriate training as well as capacity building and advocacy opportunities. The implementing partners are also committed to ensure that the YAB members receive appropriate support to fulfill their role.
