We are seeking a Cultural Liaison Officer to serve as an active and collaborative volunteer member of the ISSF Board of Directors to coordinate cultural and language interpretation and translation activities. As the Cultural Liaison Officer, you will support the International Safe Shelter Foundation’s mission while being responsible for coordinating our communications with the shelters and other points of contact that will require Spanish/English bilingual and culturally competent interactions. You will be working closely with other members of the Board.

● Maintain regular communications with shelters on at least a monthly basis through telephone, email, internet applications (i.e., WhatsApp)

● Assist in translation/interpretation of documents (assessments, fund requests, social media posts, etc.), live conversations (webinars, interviews, Zoom meetings, etc.) and other communications for monolingual participants

● Archive important communications in ISSF Dropbox

● Act as point of contact for shelters and other points of contact that require Spanish/English communication

● Attend bi-monthly board meetings and report updates

● Work with board members to develop and communicate effective messages in both Spanish and English from the ISSF Board

● Provide constructive feedback

● Fluent Spanish/English speaker, reading and writing Spanish a plus

● Some experience in Spanish/English interpretation and translation

● Experience living or traveling in Latin American countries and/or Mexico, other places where Spanish was the dominant language

● Experience working with non-profits, international development, and/or domestic violence issues

· Develop and hone professional and personal skills that can be added to your resume and portfolio

· Contribute valuable skills and knowledge to a cause that you are passionate about

· Help this organization improve to better serve its priority population

· Work with great people with the same dedication and become part of a community that wishes to eliminate domestic and gender-based violence
