Job Description

The Frontline Workers Counseling Project (FWCP) Advisory Board comprises clinicians as well as leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission. Serving on FWCP’s Advisory Board is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the nonprofit sector, as well as responding to the mental health needs of frontline workers. The following are core expectations of FWCP Advisory Board members:

  • FWCP Advisory Board members are expected to have the basic financial acumen to read and understand organization’s financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Advisory board members are expected to attend one board meeting per month (remotely via Zoom). They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings; to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions; and to follow up as needed.
  • Advisory board members are expected to consult periodically with the ED and with one another on areas where they have specific expertise.
  • Advisory board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for FWCP to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal and professional relationships and connections to help staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in FWCP’s work by making a personal contribution each year.
  • Advisory board members are expected to responsibly represent FWCP to their respective communities and to advocate for FWCP’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.
Desired Skills and Expertise

FWCP seeks an advisory board member who is a well-connected leader who demonstrates passion about the organization’s core mission. The ideal candidate will have (non-profit or for-profit) organizational development experience, including establishing and/or growing a chapter or affiliate model. Prior nonprofit board member experience, including formal board training, is preferred.
