ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org
Please visit the new page to apply.
Recruiting Organization: PILAglobal
Do you want to have an immediate impact on the lives of refugee and migrant children? Volunteer in one PILAglobal’s Nests (early childhood centers for displaced children).
WHO WE ARE
PILAglobal provides innovative education for children and families impacted by displacement and poverty worldwide.
WHAT WE DO
In our high-quality early education centers worldwide ("Nests"), children are inspired to explore, negotiate, collaborate and cultivate their passions. For children without access to education, these experiences create a refuge that restores human dignity and nurtures healthy development.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteers in our Nests in Greece and Mexico ("International Nesters") work directly with the children, supporting their daily experiences - exploring, playing, socializing and learning. Depending on which Nest you visit, the children are from 3-10 years old. International volunteers are needed to support the local teachers in each Nest, as well as the local Nesters (themselves migrants and refugees) who also volunteer their time.
WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
International Nesters commit to a minimum of one week (M-F) at the Tijuana, Mexico Nest, or two-week minimum at our Athens, Greece Nest. Every Nester takes part in an online training session to prepare them for their work and learn how we engage with the children. Our Nesters hail from across the globe and enrich each Nest with their cultural and professional backgrounds.
