Recruiting Organization: Helping Hands Community

Helping Hands Community is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those most vulnerable to COVID-19: senior citizens, the immunocompromised, and people with preexisting medical conditions that put them at additional risk. Our national network of volunteers deliver groceries, medications, and other necessary supplies, and our local and national partners--including city and county governments, mutual-aid organizations, faith-based organizations, food banks, community groups--scale our efforts to help us identify and reach those in need. The Helping Hands Community platform makes local volunteerism easy and reliable while providing an easily integrated, tech-enabled solution for partners to scale their impact. Founded by veterans of Uber, Facebook, and Google, the Helping Hands Community organization comprises more than 100 volunteers from professionals who want to give back to students beginning their careers from around the country.

Helping Hands Community is searching for an experienced Recruiter to join our team. You'll be responsible for helping usher team volunteers in and will serve as an ambassador to HHC, helping guide volunteer applicants to the right role based on their skills, experiences, and interests. Helping Hands Community recruiters are scrappy, resourceful, and most importantly, aim to give a white glove experience for all volunteer candidates.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with internal teams to build and implement processes for attracting, assessing, and onboarding volunteers into Helping Hands Community
  • Review, document, update, and manage both candidate records and job requisitions to keep hiring pipelines up to date and ensure clean reporting
  • Provide recruiting support to hiring managers and teams to ensure and promote effective and positive interviewing experiences for both potential volunteers and hiring teams
  • Work with internal teams and external stakeholders and partners to promote, source, and network as a way of building pipeline for our open needs
  • Champion your candidates, communicate early and often to keep both candidates and hiring teams informed of hiring progress
  • Partner with internal teams to support onboarding processes and help with new hire onboarding experiences to make transitions into HHC as seamless and welcome as possible

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-5 years of recruiting experience
  • Proficient with applicant tracking systems (we use Greenhouse)
  • Strong communication skills with timely follow up
  • Self starter, self motivated, and ability to work independently
  • Passionate about candidate and hiring manager experience

Commitment To The Team:

Helping Hands Community is a team of volunteers that have mobilized to help slow the spread of Covid-19. The majority of volunteers are devoting time outside of their other job to support Helping Hands Community. The demands for a leadership role like this requires someone who can devote ~ 20 hours / week to this job. Because the team is dispersed across the country and due to the unique hours individuals are working, frequent use of communication channels like Slack and email are critical to ensure no one is bottlenecking decisions or tasks.
