Recruiting Organization: YearOut Africa
There is a genuine need for assistance particularly in primary schools where education has recently been made compulsory across the country; there are simply not enough teachers to go around so any extra helps are needed from volunteers.
You can become a volunteer teaching abroad on a wide variety of projects such as:
- Teach English, mathematics, science, et cetera to children in rural communities in Ghana
- Give children in Ghana access to Arts education.
- Teach Information Technology (ICT).
Teaching volunteers works with teachers to improve participatory teaching methods, classroom management, assessments and gender equality in the classroom. Volunteers will also help develop primary education projects focusing specifically on early childhood development, literacy and basic health education.
Ghanaian students of all ages and backgrounds appreciate the opportunity to interact with fluent English speakers. Volunteer will be teaching English and other subjects such as mathematics, geography, science, social studies, life-skills and have lots of fun in the process. Whether you are a seasoned teaching professional, or have never set foot in a classroom, you can teach English vocabulary and assist pupil with pronunciation, and help improve the local students’ English language competency and conversational skills.
