Recruiting Organization: Night Owl Reconnaissance

DESCRIPTION:

Night Owl Reconnaissance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the purpose to contribute to the detection and prevention of causes that lead to missing individuals, assisting in investigations of missing persons, and offering victim assistance and resources to those recovered. Founded in 2019, we have focused on investigating individual missing persons cases while working to expand to the detection and prevention of missing persons and offering resources for those who have been recovered. We aim to become a collection of industry experts, collaboratively working with other organizations to contribute to this issue.

There are many reasons for a person to go missing, whether it be child abduction, sex trafficking, escaping domestic abuse, or death. No matter the reason, these are stories that need to be told and are worthy of discussion. We are seeking a contributing writer to work directly with our Investigations Division to produce articles or stories related to this topic to educate, encourage dialog, and promote understanding.

JOB DUTIES:

Conduct in-depth research to create compelling, engaging, discussion worthy content across our website and social media. Standard piece length would be between 500-2,000 words.

Create compelling subject lines and pieces to engage and grow the audience.

Edit written pieces for accuracy, journalistic integrity, and grammar.

Communicate and coordinate with the Night Owl’s Director of Investigations and engage with other contributing writers.

Potentially participate in interviews with survivors, families, and relevant experts to understand our audience and tone of voice for pieces.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft content with an empathetic and conversational tone.
  • Excellent research skills that lead you to the heart of any topic.
  • Comfortable with working independently and for the success of an entire team.
  • Communication and general people management skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills that are visible in a strong ability to coordinate people and tasks into an efficient process.

This position is open to the public, students, and individuals with eagerness for growth, knowledge, and publishing.
