Branches is one of the most unique after school programs because we not only help our children and youth become better students, but we also help them become better people. Yes, making sure our kids are reading at grade level and improving their grades is a major focus of what we do. However, we’ve also cultivated programs serving the children and youth of Miami that is loving, supportive, and uplifting.
Member ServiceOur AmeriCorps members serve side by side with our staff and volunteers in our child and youth programs. Our members engage low income children, youth and families to help improve academic performance through the planning, developing and leading of educational sessions. Our members provide direct service in the form of mentoring, tutoring, homework assistance and more. Member BenefitsThe impact our members make in our communities is invaluable. Truly, there is no amount of compensation that can reward them for answering the call to serve. However, those who serve with us will receive:
- A minimum of $725* bi-weekly living allowance (before taxes)
- Health Insurance Savings of $4,640.88 for the year
- A Segal Education Award of $6,345 (upon successful completion of the service year)
- Eligibility to defer student loan(s)
- Eligibility to apply for food stamp assistance
- Eligibility to apply for child care benefits
AmeriCorps is more than just an individual experience; it’s a commitment members make to serve their community. Therefore, all members are required to:
- Commit to serve a minimum of 1,700 hours*
- Commit to a flexible schedule: late morning- evening hours and some weekends
- Uphold the AmeriCorps Pledge
- Commit to wearing the AmeriCorps gear daily which will be provided
