Help to provide nutritious meals to seniors!

The United Jewish Council of the East Side (UJCES) works to support the Lower East Side and wider NYC community through a wide range of human services and community development programs. While the majority of programs are oriented to seniors, UJCES also has programs for families and children. UJCES volunteers are essential to our mission as we serve New Yorkers.

DETAILS:

Senior Lunch Service Volunteers will assist with weekday meal programs at a UJCES senior center, located at the Orenstein Building on Willett Street/Bialystoker Place.

As a volunteer, you will assist with:

  • Serving meals to seniors during noontime lunch service
  • Setup and cleanup of dining area
  • Monitoring social distancing

Tasks may include handling hot and/or heavy materials. No experience is required, and training is provided. UJCES practices recommended social distancing and safety protocols related to COVID-19.

You must be 14+ years old to volunteer, and groups of volunteers 14-17 years old must be accompanied by parent(s) or guardian(s).

DAYS & TIMES:

We are looking for volunteers who are available on weekdays between 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., starting in October 2021. You can spend one shift or many years in service to the community.
