Madison County ranks among Indiana’s highest for substantiated child abuse and neglect cases and has the second longest list of children needing an advocate. Over 400 area children are waiting for someone to help them. East Central Indiana CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is actively recruiting, screening, and training individuals ages 21 and over to be child advocates. In only a few hours per month, a CASA volunteer serves as a child’s voice and guide as they navigate the legal system and decisions toward a safe, permanent home.
