OptOut is looking for Participating Outlet Coordinators!

If you are passionate about fact-based, research- and data-driven independent journalism, this is an excellent opportunity for you to earn service learning hours while helping to build and support a network of independent media outlets.

The OptOut Media Foundation, a progressive, nonprofit charity established by journalists Alex Kotch and Walker Bragman, has developed a news app that aggregates content from exclusively financially independent media outlets with the intention of truthfully informing and educating the public while supporting ethical, independent news outlets. You will be working and networking with both established and developing independent outlets being promoted by OptOut, opening your professional network as well.

Participating Outlet Coordinator

• Communicates through email on behalf of OptOut with Participating Outlets using existing communications templates.
• Responds to Participating Outlet emails.
• Follows up with Participating Outlets regarding onboarding information and existing documentation.
• Updates information organized across Gmail, Google Contacts, Drive lists, and Airtable to keep records accurate and up-to-date.
• Welcomes & engages Participating Outlet members on the OptOut Slack when/if asked.

This role is great for someone who has strong written and verbal communications skills and is detail-oriented, organized, committed to social justice and/or ethics in journalism & media, prefers/needs to work remotely ,and can attend one Zoom meeting a week.
