Recruiting Organization: Green Halo Scholars

Green Halo Scholars was founded in 2017 to assist first-generation and low-income high school seniors with the college admissions process. Through one-on-one mentoring, we assist students in the western suburbs of Chicago in matriculating to college by providing college application support, essay and test prep tutoring, interview preparation, and financial aid advocacy.

Our organization is growing, and we are looking for a volunteer to help lead our grant writing efforts. The grant writer will help us identify grants and funding opportunities, research requirements, apply for relevant grants, and maintain knowledge of the submission process. The grant writer will develop and write proposals to grant-funders and will persuasively communicate Green Halo’s mission.

This position requires someone who is eager to grow with our organization and take full ownership of an important piece of our development. We're looking for someone with a background in Communications or English, previous grant writing experience, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be familiar with collaborating through the Google Suite and Slack.

You’ll work closely with our two co-founders and our program director, and we hope you share our passion for college access. The time commitment for this position is flexible and fluid, but we don't expect more than 4 hours each week. We’re located in the western suburbs of Chicago, but being local is not necessary, as our team works remotely.
