You can help make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's Latinx families !
Through considerable volunteer support Metropolitan Family Service’s Impuestos Comunitarios offers free tax preparation to the Latinx community, providing taxpayers a culturally-specific alternative to unlicensed preparers and paying fees to prepare their basic tax returns. Each season our volunteers assist 1,000 low-income taxpayers secure over $2 million in refunds and with your help we can continue this success! By volunteering remotely just 4-5 hours a week during tax season you will provide an invaluable service and in turn an important step towards economic security to those most in need. You will also learn a useful skill, gain a meaningful new experience and become a part of a great team of like-minded people! Prior tax knowledge is not required, we provide you with free training.
Volunteer service runs during tax season January 22 nd to April 15 th, 2022, and will be done remotely. Evening and weekend volunteer shifts available. We offer the following positions, depending on each volunteer’s interest and availability:

Must have high level of Spanish and the ability to work confidently on a computer. No experience required. Great beginner position for native Spanish speakers with limited English.
Quality Reviewer: Do you have tax experience, or know someone that does? Spanish not required! Our Quality Reviewers’ main role is to ensure high-quality, accurate preparation and is crucial to the increased capacity and success of our program. Continuing Education (CE) credit offered. Training requirements depend on level of experience, please speak with Site Coordinator for more information!
Interpreter: Are you an Interpreter wanting to share and further develop your skill? Provide interpretation services for our taxpayers! Previous Interpreter training and experience preferred.
This program is completely volunteer-based - the more volunteers we receive the more low-income taxpayers we are able to help! Online orientations have begun, please email me at KarenK@mfs-cashoregon.org with any questions you may have and additional information I can provide. Thank you so much for your interest, we look forward to hearing from you!
