Recruiting Organization: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana

We are a home-away-from-home for the parents and families of ill and injured children who come to the Indianapolis area for treatment, especially Riley Hospital for Children. While the child is getting great care at the hospital, we take care of the rest of the family. For this reason, we interact primarily with the parents and other adult family members. We do not have volunteer opportunities interacting with children.

Our Limestone location is at 435 Limestone Street, on the IUPUI campus, and is a place where families can stay for one or more nights. In addition, we have our location inside Riley Hospital, where families can get away from the hospital environment, share a meal, take a nap or shower, or if they have a critically ill child, spend the night.

The backbone of both these locations is our Guest Services Volunteer (GSV). GSVs are our front line customer service providers who help check families in and out, answer questions, staff the office, and take care of things in order to make the families' time with us as pleasant as possible.

To qualify for this rewarding position, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, authorize us to conduct a limited background check, agree to getting a complimentary TB tests and be able to complete 9 hours of training.

Guest Services Volunteers are scheduled one three-hour shift every other week and we do ask for a six month commitment.
