ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: The DALE Foundation

The Dental Advancement through Learning and Education Foundation (the DALE Foundation) is seeking two Leaders-in-Training to join its Board of Trustees. The DALE Foundation, the official affiliate of the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), supports the oral health care community and the public they serve by developing online education and conducting research.

Serving on the Board of Trustees is an opportunity to be a leader in the oral health care community, gain experience serving on a nonprofit board, and make professional connections. Leaders-in-Training may be appointed for one or two years and may be invited to apply to become a voting Trustee during their service. Leaders-in-Training serve on the Board of Trustees in full capacity but do not vote.

The DALE Foundation actively seeks equitable, inclusive and representative involvement by a broad range of people on its Board of Trustees to represent diversity of background, experience, expertise, and geography, as well as gender, age, race and ethnicity.

Experience in large group practices, dental service organizations, or dental distributors or manufacturers is especially desired. Experience in e-learning, financial reporting or accounting, fundraising, public health, and research will also be considered.

About the Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees’ responsibilities include establishing and reviewing policies, strategic planning, financial oversight, assessing Board and organization performance, being ambassadors for the organization and upholding the organization’s values.

Trustees, including Leaders-in-Training, are expected to:

  • Attend board meetings two times a year (February and August)
  • Serve on committees and task forces
  • Participate in conference calls and virtual meetings throughout the year as needed

How to Apply

To apply for the Leader-in-Training position, please submit:

  • A letter of interest highlighting your experience in one or more of the areas outlined above
  • Your current resume
  • A letter of recommendation from a professional reference (e.g., current or former employer, supervisor or co-worker, someone who you have served with on a committee or board)

Materials must be emailed to nominations@dalefoundation.org by Jan. 10, 2022.

Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a phone interview with the Nominating Committee. The DALE Foundation Board will review the recommendations of the Nominating Committee and will hold elections by May 31, 2022. All applicants, including the elected Leaders-in-Training, will be contacted with the election results by June 2022.
