ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

  1. Project LEDO was founded with the idea to support Title I schools in the greater Portland, Oregon area, and serves BIPOC, Immigrant and Refugee Children from kindergarten to 8 th grade
  2. The goal of Project LEDO is to inspire young underrepresented and marginalized students to see themselves represented in the field of science and technology

POSITION SUMMARY:

  1. Project LEDO is looking for a talented volunteer social media coordinator to maintain and extend its online presence
  2. Your role is to implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts

FUNCTION:

  1. Assists in the development, coordination, and administration of the overall marketing and promotion program to maximize the community’s awareness of the organization’s mission and to effectively market the organization’s activities, events and services
  2. Supports development team in strengthening donor recruitment and connection

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

  1. Reports and is responsible to the Executive Director
  2. Works closely with staff on marketing, promotions and events

DUTIES:

  1. Assists in the development of marketing and promotional plans, coordinated and implemented with input from staff, client/student families and donors
  2. Develops marketing and promotion performance metrics and reports to Executive Director on the effectiveness of marketing projects
  3. Monitors website analytics and social media metrics and strategically uses data to advise the Executive Director and improve web development and social media management
  4. Executes the maintenance, training and implementation of all social media marketing in coordination with Executive Director
  5. Provides support and training to staff in social media, event, campaign, and promotional planning
  6. Coordinates photo and video content creation for events and activities
  7. Meets with staff as required to coordinate marketing and promotional initiatives
  8. Assists the staff in developing effective campaigns and events
  9. Assists and coordinates editing, proofing, and adding copy to marketing and promotional material
  10. Prepares straightforward marketing materials where technical graphics design work is not required
  11. Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Demonstrated experience with advocating for BIPOC community and understanding of social justice issues
  2. Demonstrated understanding of S.T.E.M. fields
  3. Relevant education and experience
  4. Experience developing content for and managing digital assets, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Mailchimp
  5. Experience in promotions and marketing, including web-based marketing
  6. Demonstrated experience writing and editing copy for diverse audiences, especially the BIPOC community
  7. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  8. Demonstrated marketing and promotion research and creativity skills
  9. Experience in positive and effective relationships with the media
  10. Ability to work independently with little supervision
  11. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
