Food Bank

At our Food Bank, we refer to people who come

for food as our 'Guests,' with the aim to make everyone feel welcome, and to

reassure people who may feel uncomfortable coming in for help that they will be

treated with dignity and respect. Volunteer Hours are: available on Tuesday or Thursday or Friday from 9am-2pm

Guest Intake Specialist

The position of Guest Intake is an important

position because this is the first person our guests meet, so the intake person

must be personable, understanding, and friendly. Sign in or register new guests.

Bilingual folks (Chinese, Spanish, & Russian) are

especially encouraged to join us!

Food Sorting/Distribution

Our food bank serves hundreds of families within a three hour period twice per

week. This requires lots of help from volunteers to sort and bag fresh produce,

keeping food bins stocked, and help with distributing food. We'd love to have

you join us!

Clothing Sorting/Distribution

At our Food Bank we also offer clothing to people who need it;

as a volunteer you would help an established clothing bank team with sorting

and hanging clothes before we open, then be hands-on assisting our guests

finding the clothing they need. Be able to stand on your feet for several

hours at a time, have good organizational skills and an eye for sorting out

clothes from bins of overstock. Must be friendly & personable, able to

work on a team, and courteous in a busy environment. Experience with customer

service a plus, but not necessary

Food Bank Translators

The SVDP/Georgetown Food Bank is looking for volunteers who can

help us properly communicate the services we provide to our non-english

speaking guests. One of the greatest challenges we have is communicating to

our foreign-speaking clients. We have developed some printed translations

that allow us to get basic information to our clients, but those who don’t

read or if we need to answer questions folks have we’re pretty much at a

loss. What we are looking for are translators who are able to help us answer

questions and also to help relay new policies that affect our clients. Do you

speak Spanish, Russian, Chinese, or Vietnamese? We'd love to talk to you!
