Recruiting Organization: CASA of Jackson County
CASAs are community volunteers who speak for children in the child welfare system, who are victims of abuse and/or neglect. CASAs receive excellent training and support so they can help children navigate the complex child welfare and legal system they are thrown into. CASAs do not take children into their homes but they do visit them in their placements, which is one of the most powerful actions a CASA can make. Children never forget their CASAs. Must be 21 yrs old, attend an orientation, complete an application/interview, pass a background check, and complete core CASA training. Time averages 10 hours a month and we ask for a 2 year commitment. Our volunteers stay on average 4 years with our program.
