Recruiting Organization: Healing Without Borders
Background:
Our print publication, approaching ten issues, is managed as a joint-venture hybrid between Healers and Healing Without Borders (HWB). Together we produce written and visual content in each periodically released issue and daily blog post, exploring all complementary and alternative medical/therapeutic modalities. Because of the public journaling/processing we encourage among our readers, and our employment of user-submitted artwork, our content may be skewed especially toward both writing and art therapy, which is good since creativity cures.
Role:
The volunteer editor will proofread and generally improve articles submitted by healing practitioners and sometimes their clients. They will also have the option to pair finished pieces with works from our artists. Ideally five posts/articles are polished each week, but this work can be divided with another editor. Blog posts average 250 words and featured articles average 500. Once a month the volunteer can also write a note introducing each new issue, depending on interest and experience with holistic/integrative health and as a writer.
Workflow:
The editor receives curated submissions from Healers and delivers them upon completion to a fellow HWB volunteer in operations, who uploads them to our website and does preliminary formatting. Our Executive Director then publishes and sends new content to authors and artists, who have one day for review before social sharing and email distribution begins.
Compensation:
As with Healers Magazine’s authors and artists, the editor will indefinitely earn $1.00 per 100 views of each post in Healing Gold: credits that can be redeemed with holistic/integrative practitioners or sold. A white paper on Healing Gold is available upon request.
