This is a weekly, in-person, afternoon tutoring opportunity. Our staff will carefully match you to one student who is in Grade 6, 7, or 8 in a public school in Cambridge. Cambridge School Volunteers' five learning centers for students at this grade level serves only students who have been referred to us by their teachers. We provide a quiet, supportive environments for them to get help from their individual tutors with whatever subjects they need. You may also be called on the help the student with organizing their work, with time management, and with weathering the stresses of catching up required by pandemic school closures. Relationship-building is key to effective tutoring!

We are looking for people who relate well to this age group (11-13), have patience, and can be a consistent, dependable source of extra adult support--often a critical factor in a middle schooler's academic success. You will join a tutoring team of 6-12 tutors at one of our five Learning Centers, sited at the students' schools. Each Learning Center meets weekly on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, from 3:00 to 4:30, from now until the end of May. Required: online application, one-hour orientation (on 11/20 or 12/16), brief individual placement session (1:1), and workshop in Cultural Humility. We hope you'll join one of our communities of tutors who care about local kids!
