BIOMEDICAL SERVICES: VEHICLE FLEET TEAM MEMBERS

The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. But if we can’t get from point A to point B, that mission becomes much more difficult, if not impossible. This is where YOU come in.

The role of Biomedical Services Vehicle Fleet Team Member is to coordinate the scheduling, utilization, maintenance, and documentation of American Red Cross vehicles, ensuring for a fully operational and deployable fleet. Essentially, you help keep us on the road in a safe and timely manner. Cooperating with your Supervisor and fellow team members, key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring vehicle registrations, insurance, and associated documents are properly stored/displayed in all fleet vehicles.
  • Supporting vehicle maintenance and repairs in concert with the fleet vendor and local automotive maintenance/repair shops.
  • Working with local service providers and staff to ensure timely preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles.
  • Performing light maintenance and support keeping vehicles clean, ensuring the fleet remains in top condition.
  • Conducting regular inspections of vehicles to identify repair or maintenance needs as they arise.
  • Advising regional Operations team of process improvements to help find efficiencies in maintaining the regional fleet.
  • Supporting the onboarding of new authorized drivers in all Red Cross departments ensuring they have received correct training on the organization’s processes and safety guidelines as it relates to the fleet.
  • Other duties as discussed.

Time Commitment: 1-2 partial days per week on site at 7th & Spring Garden Streets, Philadelphia; negotiable based on needs and Supervisor’s expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and qualified motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Successful completion of Red Cross volunteer application at redcross.org/volunteer, including standard background check and qualified motor vehicle report (MVR.)
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) policies, procedures, guidelines, etc.; preferred, not required.
  • Strong written & oral communication skills; bi-lingual English-Spanish huge plus!
  • Strong logistical and organization skills needed to support fleet coordination.
