Covenant House Alaska serves youth experiencing homelessness. We are seeking someone who would commit to a full-time, one year service term with AmeriCorps.

The VISTA Member will work to improve efficacy of existing volunteerism efforts at Covenant House Alaska (CHA), increase community volunteerism, and be a catalyst for communication about new and ongoing volunteer activities. Some specific duties include; developing volunteer training modules, co-launching those trainings, implementing a formal volunteer appreciation program, creating volunteer stories through photos/videos for use on social media, maintaining the volunteer database, designing volunteer recruitment strategies, and more!

Description

Covenant House Alaska is to be the leader, through collaboration with the community, to provide compassionate, sustainable services and shelter to homeless or at-risk youth in Alaska.

Youth experiencing homelessness have rights.

The right to a home.

The right to food.

The right to guidance.

The right to an education.

The right to be free from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse.

The right to be free from exploitation.

Youth experiencing homelessness have the right to be safe, and most importantly, to be loved.
