ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The Volunteer position(s) are available at the front desk of the visitor center. Volunteers usually commit to one morning or afternoon shift per week year-round. Note: one or more volunteer positions may be filled from this announcement.


DUTIES: Our volunteers aid seasonal and permanent staff with a variety of duties: staffing the visitor center, roving the trails, assisting park visitors, and helping with special projects. Physical requirements include the ability to hike at least 1.25 miles on a moderately strenuous high-elevation park trail (7000').


The volunteers will assist with front desk visitor services, special projects and informal visitor contacts.


SKILLS: Customer service experience, cash handling experience, ability to hike trails of uneven terrain and the desire to learn about Pecos National Historical Park.


ORIENTATION: Volunteers new to the area will receive comprehensive training on both visitor center and cooperating association bookstore operations.
