Big Thicket National Preserve is seeking volunteers to help serve as site stewards throughout the park. A site steward is someone who preferably lives close to the area and is willing to help with general upkeep of the site. The volunteers will also help be ambassadors for the site as they may interact with visitors visiting the park.
Big Thicket National Preserve protects more than 113,114 acres of land and water corridor units and spans across 7 Texas counties. The primary duties of Site Steward it to assist with trash pickup at the site either along trails or parking/picnic areas as well as reporting any major maintenance issue to their supervisor. We will provide the volunteer PPE and other equipment needed for trash collection.
Time Commitment-Varies on the volunteer’s time commitment, can range a couple a week to two-three days a month.
Equipment Required-
· Volunteer is not required to appear in uniform but should wear appropriate clothing when out in the preserve (long pants, close toed shoes, etc.).
· Will be provided with equipment and PPE for picking up trash (trash bags, trash grabbers, gloves, and eye protection).
