Position Duties: As a uniformed volunteer with the National Park Service, the volunteer serves as a front-line representative of the agency roving the park trails. There are over 4 miles of trails in the park, including trails at the birthplace unit, adjacent picnic area, and the Knob Creek unit. The volunteer will greet park visitors and provide informal interpretation about the park resources while roving the trails. In addition, the trail steward will pickup any trash along the trails and report any damage to the resources or trail to the volunteer supervisor.

Requirements: Volunteers are required to wear the provided volunteer uniform and badge and represent the National Park Service by acting in a courteous and professional manner with visitors, park staff, and other volunteers. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in American History and the life of Abraham Lincoln. Ability to learn about the park resources and share this information with park visitors a must. Ability to hike uneven surfaces for long periods of time (1 hour+).
