We are seeking local volunteers from the Natchez or Vidalia area to remove litter and excessive vegetation (1 hour per month) on the northernmost unit of St. Catherine Creek NWR called Cloverdale Unit, Butler Lake Road and Cabin Road trail head on the Butler Lake Unit, and York Road south of the Butler Lake turnoff on Hutchins Landing Road. The ideal volunteer team would be two people who can work together to bag trash.
With 4 staffmembers to manage 40,000 acres for wildlife conservation, we are shorthanded to reach every nook and cranny of both refuges. Your willingness to volunteer would help your public lands.
A litter grabber/pick up reacher and garbage bags will be provided by the refuge. Duties as assigned include removal of litter, woody debris, and vegetation, and reporting of any new damage to signs/kiosks/gates.
