As a living history interpreter, the volunteer serves as a costumed front-line representative of the National Park Service. The volunteer will interpret the history of the Kentucky frontier era during the early years of Abraham Lincoln, using a variety of interpretive techniques, including, but not limited to: storytelling, third-person interpretation, demonstrations (spinning wheel, woodworking, etc.), and maintaining a garden.
Volunteers are required to wear period correct clothing depicting life during the early 19 th century in Kentucky. The volunteer will represent the National Park Service by acting in a courteous and professional manner with visitors, park staff, and other volunteers. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in American History and the life of Abraham Lincoln. Ability to learn about the park resources and share this information with park visitors.
