Visitor Center Interpretive Host at Alum Creek Lake

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Volunteers at the Alum Creek Lake Visitor Center help answer visitor questions as well as helping them learn about all that Alum Creek Lake has to offer, the Corps’ story, and provoke learning of the many aspects of the area. Volunteers assist the Ranger staff with these goals by greeting and orienting visitors at the information desks, selling America the Beautiful Federal Lands passes, providing personalized visitor interactions while roving throughout the visitor center, staffing interpretive locations, and assisting with special events. The visitor center generally has a relaxed pace which allows for quality interactions with the visitors. Occasionally visitation is calmer, which allows volunteers time to read or work on other projects. The project is staffed by 7 full-time employees who are solely responsible for the maintenance and operation of the nearly 50 year old facilities. Volunteers are a crucial part of our team, and significantly improve visitors experiences in the park!
