The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is seeking help in the animal shelter!

Our Animal Care Team (ACT) is designed to support the daily care of the animals at Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Volunteers in this program provide care for shelter animals through a variety of cleaning tasks, such as dog kennel cleaning, laundry and dishes, and other cleaning tasks. Our highest immediate need is for help cleaning kennels. Volunteers should be capable of bending, scooping, lifting and standing for extended periods of time. All individuals begin their service on the Animal Care team, with opportunities to move into direct animal care after a demonstrated commitment.

Age Requirement: You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer independently, and volunteers between the ages of 7 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult as part of a Pets and Pals Team.
Note: Independent volunteers will have the option of signing up for both Kennel Cleaning and Laundry/Dishes shifts through the ACT program. Pets and Pals Teams will only have the option of signing up for Laundry/Dishes shifts.
Commitment: The Animal Care Team does not require a long-term commitment or regular weekly schedule.
Training: Volunteers receive on the job training with Animal Care Team staff members.
Scheduling: Kennel Cleaning shifts are available seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Laundry/Dishes shifts are available seven days a week from 9 - 11 a.m., 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 1 - 3 p.m., and 3 - 5 p.m. Volunteers can schedule shifts themselves through our online scheduling portal after their application is approved.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley to protect and enhance the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people.

Description

Founded in 1902, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) provides a safety net to animals in need in our community and beyond. Each year, HSBV provides shelter and care to nearly 7,000 animals, helping them find their new beginnings in the Boulder community or working to protect happy and healthy relationships.

Our open-admission shelter provides care to any animal who comes to our facility. Open seven days a week, HSBV readily accepts community animals as guardian surrenders, stray pets, and transferred animals. The Transfer program enables us to offer a greater variety of animals to our adoption clients. The placement rates of our Adoption program ensure our doors are open to thousands of transfer animals seeking placement from overcrowded and under-served shelters in our state and region.

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is a private, nonprofit organization that relies on donations from our generous supporters. HSBV animal care efforts are also supported by the funds generated through our Community Resource Center/Thrift Shop and our Sonnyside Retail Store. We are not operated or funded by any national humane groups or governmental agencies and rely on contributions to bring our services to the community.
