Friends of MJHS

This opportunity would best suit residents of New York or New Jersey, as it concerns youth programs that operate in those states; however, the wisdom of residents from other states is welcomed as well. THANK YOU for your interest.

My husband Luis and I created SoulPhamm as a platform to mentor young people through involvement in sports, community service and the performing arts. Luis passed away suddenly last January, and I decided to press forward and launch SoulPhamm as a nonprofit organization in New Jersey. We now have a presence in New York City and are preparing to launch in Nigeria in September 2023.

Grief hurried along the process at first, and now I want to take the time to make sure that everything is in order so that SoulPhamm can grow into a healthy and strong organization. The Junior Advisory Board will assist me in making sure that SoulPhamm's programmatic house in order. You will do some of everything, from helping us find a home, to finding resources for the young people. Those who have time can work with the participants (either in person or virtually). You will also help plan events and other activities. A sense of humor and a willingness to think "big" is critical.

The current members meet bi-weekly on Mondays at 6pm. The next meeting will happen on January 17th.

Interested candidates are asked to tell us about themselves when they reach out - specifically, what they believe they can bring to SoulPhamm. No phone calls please.

Mission Statement

The mission of MJHS is to aid in the provision of quality education and sound character building programs for young people.

Friends of MJHS ("Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of generating contributions, pledges and funds for the development and ongoing support of Citadel Academy Prep School (CAPS), a school that will provide students in grades 6-8 with a high quality Christian education through a well balanced, yet challenging curriculum that ministers to the spirit, soul and body.

Friends will also provide funds, management and ongoing support of The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company, a character building sports and arts program that will serve all youth regardless of their religious affiliation. The SoulDeevas will include programs that provide activities, resources and support during critical out-of-school time hours in a safe, nurturing environment that works from a strengths-based, youth development perspective.
