ORGANIZATION: Marion County Dog Shelter

Duties may include, but are not limited to: Cleaning kennels, performing janitorial duties within the dog shelter, operating a commercial dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Working with the shelter staff on varied tasks as requested. The combination of duties may vary depending on the volunteer's experience level, skills and organizational need. Under staff direction, prepare Kong’s, toys and other items for dog enrichment. Help staff assemble adoption packets and other information for adopters. Make copies of event flyers and other appropriate information.

Qualifications:

Enthusiasm, support and desire to grow MCDS programs and services; able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; strong customer service skills; positive attitude; ability to take direction from others and follow detailed instructions; able to manage time and work independently.

Must be 18; wear flat, closed toe shoes; ability to lift 10-20lbs.

  • morning / 08:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • afternoon / 03:00 PM to 04:00 PM

Description

Marion County Dog Services operates Marion County's dog shelter located in Salem with the mission of serving and protecting dogs and communities throughout Marion County. The staff members are tasked with enforcing Marion County dog licensing and control ordinances; promoting humane treatment of dogs; providing shelter and care for stray dogs until they are reunited with their families or adopted; educating residents on quality dog care; and providing excellent customer service.
