Below is information about our COVID-19 vaccination criteria and volunteering. People of color and/or bilingual language talents are strongly encouraged to apply. To sign up to volunteer, please complete this application: https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=335122860&O.

NorthPoint is vaccinating ages 5 and up with Pfizer, and ages 18 and up with Moderna vaccines. Community members who meet these criteria must be scheduled to receive the vaccine by calling 612-348-9000. This event will take place at our Human Services building. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.

The Volunteer positions are:

* Greeters: greeting patients, checking that they are on the scheduled list, if not referring them to staff member

* Navigators: escorting patients to our conference center rooms and assisting them with completing the forms

* Monitors: staying with patients during the 15 or 30-minute wait time after their vaccination for observation and thanking them for coming when the observation time is done

We ask that you take COVID-19 precautions yourself before considering signing up to volunteer with us these dates:

Please do not volunteer if you or anyone in my household has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days. Please self-screen and do not volunteer if you or anyone in your household is experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. This list is subject to change to reflect the current public health recommendations. For more information, see the Minnesota Department of Health website: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/

We are asking volunteers to quarantine for 10 days after out of state travel and to be symptom free prior to volunteering with NorthPoint.

As we have all become familiar with this pandemic, we also ask that you take these precautions too: 1) Wear your face mask covering your nose and mouth as soon as you are on the NorthPoint parking ramp and building, 2) Maintain 6 feet physical distancing, and 3) Wash your hands frequently. Hand sanitizer, wipes, gloves, surgical masks and face shields will be available for you too.

Our NorthPoint building at 1256 Penn Avenue North (corner of Penn and Plymouth Avenues) includes a FREE parking ramp. Enter the driveway at the corner of Plymouth and Oliver (one block east of Penn). We are on these bus lines: 19 north/south, 7 east/west and C Line north/south. Then join us on the 5th Floor and tell the staff you are there to volunteer.

You must sign up in advance to volunteer at this event. Please contact me to register. Thank you for considering volunteering with us for this important event to vaccinate our community!

Mission Statement

Actively partnering to create a healthier community. We envision NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center as a highly desirable place for healthcare: Where people of all traditions receive culturally-appropriate human services and clinical health care. Where best practices of prevention, primary care, and complimentary care are infused into an integrated health and human services approach. Where an emphasis on teaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices weaves NorthPoint into the total fabric of the community. Health education, proper nutrition, and self-reliance are promoted in appealing ways. Service expands beyond the original facility walls and is provided to teens, and single adults, as well as to families. Where the welcoming and caring atmosphere created by the professional health care staff, clinic staff, and human services staff and volunteers exceed patient and client expectations for expertise and adaptability.

Description

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a comprehensive health and human services agency located in the heart of North Minneapolis. NorthPoint is comprised of two organizations: a community services nonprofit with a broad array of social and human services (NorthPoint Inc.); and a full service community health center (NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center) that includes medical, dental and behavioral health clinics. NorthPoint seeks to reduce health disparities, improve health outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of life for all residents of North Minneapolis by providing high quality medical, dental and behavioral health care, along with integrated social services such as its food shelf, housing resources and domestic violence services -- with respect, dignity and sensitivity to a culturally rich and ethnically diverse community.
