ORGANIZATION: SECOND CHANCE LIVING PMI CORPORATION

Role Overview:

  • Responsible for providing instruction to adult learners of varying academic levels
  • Prepare weekly virtual course content, discussion question, and quizzes using Google Classroom, Google Forms
  • Maintain weekly attendance by checking Participants’ work completion weekly
  • Take and submit attendance weekly and engage regularly with all participants
  • Check-in with Participants regularly by email or phone to reinforce course completion and gauge participants’ needs
  • Provide academic guidance to participants as needed to achieve academic and career goals
  • Review course content and materials as well as participant evaluations and make recommendations to the Program Coordinator for course revision and/or development
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator to review, evaluate and, if necessary, revise course content
  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, pre and post-test hours, grades, and progress
  • Submit final rosters according to established procedures and deadlines
  • Implement best practices for the retention of lessons for participants
  • Adhere to SLPMI policies and procedures
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and professional development training
  • Assist Program Coordinator with part-time instructor training
  • Complete required staff development requirement
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in technology (Microsoft Office platform (Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint), Google platform (Mail, Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides), email and basic internet and social media knowledge
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of SCLPMI
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills

Commitment:

  • 8-week commitment for each program session
  • 3-5 hours per week for 8 weeks per program session. This includes drafting, posting, monitoring completion of assignments, grading, and networking with participants, plus lesson plan preparatory work, logistics coordination, program supervision, and time spent providing all participants with quality feedback.
  • Career Readiness Teacher Assistant is expected to take time prior to the course start date to familiarize themselves with course materials.

Measures of Success:

  • Participant surveys. After every class, each participant in attendance receives a survey by email to assess the value of the session as it pertains to the participant’s transition and whether the participant was able to make a professional connection with an employer at the class. Participants also receive an end-of-course survey via email to gauge the quality of their overall program experience.
  • Program Coordinator Assessment. The Program Coordinator will receive a survey to measure the Virtual Teacher Assistant experience with SCLPMI participants and the SCLPMI team.
  • Class attendance.70% or more attendance/participation and the satisfactory completion of course deliverables.
  • Employment follow-up. SCLPMI staff will follow up with each participant to ensure they are on the path to beginning a new and meaningful career in the industry or company of their choosing.
