Volunteers are encouraged to wear masks and gloves at all times onsite. Gloves and masks are available
Position Tasks:
- Ask if the guest has been exposed or has any Covid-19 symptoms
- Complete intake.
- Only 2 guests allowed at the screening table at a time. Welcome guests and give paper mask
- Indicate passed with initials in the intake form if guest is symptom free and has a temperature below 100 degrees. If guest is symptomatic encourage guest to go to a medical clinic, offering a hand-out with a list of local clinics. The use of the shower is denied.
- Move safe guests to the next station.
- Monitor scheduling table, only move clients forward when there is a free station.
- Safety of our volunteers and guests is very important, and out of precaution, ask guest if they have been exposed or has scabies or any other rash that may be contagious. If yes, the use of the shower is denied.

Shower Power Plus Program Goal: Enhance the quality of life in our unhoused Thurston County neighbors by providing showers, clean clothing, supplies, and coordinating with community partners to provide other resources in an atmosphere of radical hospitality.
Description
Nurture Hope (NH) serves Thurston County residents with dignity through two unique active programs, Build A Bus Home, and Shower Power Plus. Both programs serve our unhoused Thurston County neighbors.
Nurture Hope’s programs provide affordable housing options through BABH, while SPP serves unhoused guests who do not have regular access to running water with mobile showers. Our dedicated team of volunteers offer a piece of normalcy and a small step toward the goal of independent and self-sufficient living. Together, we strive to meet the most basic human needs with radical hospitality!
Shower Power Plus also works closely with Community Partners creating an inviting atmosphere for guests. This "Village of Care" approach has attracted partners who provide, food, clothing, medical, employment information, and a range of related supplies and services.
As we grow and evolve our operations, it is crucial that we continue to promote a favorable and lasting impression in the minds of everyone with whom we interact, including guests, donors, media, volunteers, and the general community.
