The Volunteer Survivor Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, support, and information to survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones in the community. Volunteer Survivor Advocates provide confidential, empathetic, non-judgmental support in the immediate aftermath of sexual violence, or at any point in a survivor’s recovery process.
Our program is accepting Volunteer Survivor Advocates (and interns) to provide support to sexual violence survivors in the following capacities: hospital advocacy, criminal justice system advocacy, support group advocacy, and hotline/phone advocacy.
Prior to serving as a Volunteer Survivor Advocate, you will receive training that will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide support to survivors of sexual violence. The training program requires a significant time commitment, but is essential is preparing volunteers for their roles and responsibilities. All volunteer advocates are required to complete the entire program.
The training schedule can be acquired by emailing cssv@ywcadayton.org.
