Competition Coordinator, Los Angeles A Cappella Festival
This position will report to the Executive Producer of LAAF. Ideal candidates will be highly organized, proactive, strong communicators and have experience with event planning/production. Candidates should be based in or near the Los Angeles, CA area.
- Set competition format and timelines (submission deadline, competitor selection date/announcement, materials due date, etc.)
- Work with team to set competition rules and structure (rounds vs. no rounds, how many groups, themes, submission guidelines, etc.)
- Help arrange and manage selection panel for competitor entries
- Once competitors are selected, communicate directly with group leaders to get competitor info (technical needs, setlists, member info, sound check times, group bio, etc.)
- Work with team to select judges for the event, and communicate all competition regulations to judges
- Prepare loose script for Friday night emcee/hosts for run of show
- Manage all competitor sound checks on Friday of festival
- Create adjudication forms and train/manage volunteer adjudicators.
- Ensure timely start of competition and keep team updated with pacing of show in real time
- Manage competitor liaisons to ensure timely competition proceedings
- Work with judges to select special awards
- Attend weekly meetings with the production team to plan the event. Meetings are done remotely but the event is in person the weekend of Feb 18-19 in Santa Monica/El Segundo.
