Shakti Rising is a women-led, women centered social change organization cultivating the health, financial resilience and emergent leadership of women & girls. Our work empowers women & girls to utilize their transformation as a catalyst in their families, workplace and communities. This creates gradual cultural change that supports sustainable, cooperative, healthy societies.

Our work actively promotes community well being, creating woman & child friendly societies that are safe, healthy, vibrant, diverse, sustainable and culturally alive.
One way we do this is through providing grassroots education that blends ecology, psychology, myth & folklore, somatics, wisdom traditions and popular education. Shakti Feminine University (SFU) empowers women and girls to be socially conscious change-makers who lead social change through the lens of liberatory education. Our woman-centered, holistic, trauma-informed approach to teaching fosters ongoing learning, engaged communities of practice and peer-to-peer mentorship in and outside the classroom. We believe that life is our classroom and learning is a pathway to liberation.
We have internship opportunities in our Wisdom Communities, Learning Communities program.
Major Responsibilities: Interns will participate in the growth of the multi-generational, international student community of Shakti Feminine University, Shakti Rising’s education program. Specific activities include: contacting and updating records for current & past students, cultivating meaningful student engagement and resource sharing on private online community platform, weaving a learning community among students.
Qualifications: An ongoing learner studying community organizing, mutual aid, communities of practice, popular education or transformational education with interest in cultivating community in an online setting. A curious, compassionate, committed, outgoing, mature, reliable, motivated individual. This internship is ideal for folks who love learning through doing, can take initiative as well as direction and excel when being part of a team. You thrive in a 'barn raising approach’ to learning.
Training Provided: Virtual training includes: orientation to Shakti Rising framework, training in the platforms & methods used by the organization, courses in the Rosemary curriculum, Shakti’s facilitation training, Skills & Sustenance bimonthly staff workshops (professional development training), individual support and training as needed.
Hours/week: 10-15 hours per week

Description
Shakti Rising is active across the USA. We work with volunteers from all over the United States and beyond. We have three program areas: Transformational Recovery, Shakti Feminine University, and Transformation Through Service. Our three programs support women and the larger community to dive deeply into their own personal recovery, education, and leadership development. Our volunteer program is a leadership program, we are a living laboratory of leading from the feminine.
