Shakti Rising is a women-led, women centered social change organization cultivating the health, financial resilience and emergent leadership of women & girls. Our work empowers women & girls to utilize their transformation as a catalyst in their families, workplace and communities. This creates gradual cultural change that supports sustainable, cooperative, healthy societies.

We do this by cultivating the health, resilience and leadership of women and girls through a unique 7 prism model that is feminine/feminist, sustainable, creativity and community based.

Shakti Feminine University empowers women and girls to be socially conscious change-makers who lead us all towards social change through the lens of liberatory education. Our woman-centered, holistic, trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning blends ecology, psychology, folkloric education, and popular education into a highly experiential community of practice, fostering ongoing learning and peer-to-peer mentorship in and outside the classroom. We believe that learning is not just what occurs in classrooms; learning is the act of welcoming life to transform us, compelling us to liberate ourselves and one another to create the world we long for.

We have an internship opportunity for our Embodied Wisdom Teacher Cultivation program . Shakti Rising teachers are working in online spaces at the intersection of gender-specific social justice and within a feminine framework of transformation. Far more than imparters of information, teachers in the Shakti Way :

• Turn communities toward each other
• Help them locate their experiences and learning in a larger context
• Facilitate radical shifts in perspective that lead to action
• Engage students in a whole person, embodied learning process
• Generously cultivate new and seasoned teachers
• Form communities of practice
• Address inequity and unpack oppression at the roots

Fundamental to the success of this social change movement is the creation of a thriving teacher cultivation pipeline. The main goal of this internship is to develop & implement this pipeline, from recruitment of potential volunteer teachers, through their training in this method using our Guild based approach (embody to enable).

Shakti Rising is focused on embodied learning and a connection to nature and place (localities), while also working within the global community. Questions guiding the program design include: How do we incorporate nature and embodiment in online spaces? How do we cultivate teachers to be able to use trauma-informed education tools in meaningful ways? How do we promote experiential learning, connection & community, in community-based learning even when working remotely?

Major Responsibilities: Participate in the design, development & implementation of the Teacher Cultivation program. Specific activities are to develop a plan to onboard new and re-engage past teachers, design consistent teacher engagement and training systems, and compile a Teacher Manual. Responsibilities also include research and recommendations on teaching tactics to enhance multi ways of learning, inclusion of nature & body based practices and community building in online spaces. The internship could entail participation as a teaching assistant in Shakti Rising classes.

Qualifications: Ideally a graduate student with an interdisciplinary focus on education who has tech competency. A curious, compassionate, committed, mature, reliable, motivated individual. This internship is ideal for folks who love learning through doing, can take initiative as well as direction and excel when being part of a team. You thrive in a 'barn raising approach’ to learning.

Training Provided: Virtual training includes orientation to Shakti Rising framework, training in the platforms & methods used by the organization, Skills & Sustenance bimonthly staff workshops (professional development training), individual support and training as needed.

Hours/week: 10-15 hours per week, depending on schedule - 150 hours minimum; work to be done online
