Volunteer Purpose
The KS Food Pantry Delivery Driver will work with the KS Food Pantry Coordinator to serve the needs of our guests/clients through monthly food distribution. Many homebound individuals in the Kansas City Metro region rely on JFS to provide food and our delivery drivers help make this happen! If you have two hours a month to serve others and make a real impact-we have a job for you!
Tasks
- Pick-up items boxes, produce and protein items from the Jewish Community Center
- Load items into your vehicle and receive your route with client names, addresses
- Call clients to confirm that they will be at the residence for delivery
- Drive to the client’s home, pull the correct items from your vehicle
- Deliver to the client
Competencies
- Must possess a reliable vehicle
- Must be committed to volunteering each month or giving enough notice that you will not be able to volunteer-OUR CLIENTS RELY ON YOU!
- Empathetically listen, while maintaining boundaries consistent with agency guidelines
- Passionate about serving pantry patrons
- Adaptable and flexible
Training/Supervision
- The volunteer will be trained and supervised by the KS Food Pantry Coordinator and other JFS Staff as needed.
Dress Code
- Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing that they can move/process items in with ease
