This opportunity consists of distributing nutritionally balanced monthly food boxes for The Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This program provides nutrient-rich foods to older adults with low-income. Each box is packed based on the MyPlate nutritional guide and may contain cereal, fruit juice, canned items(fruit, vegetables, meat, and poultry/fish), dry or canned beans or peanut butter, pasta or rice, shelf stable or dry milk, and cheese. You will be assigned a station either where you are checking a client in, helping them sign up, and/ or passing out a box to our local neighbors.
We will supply masks and gloves. Teenagers 14+ are welcome to volunteer if an adult guardian goes with them. Please do not volunteer if you have been exposed to/ have COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever and/ or difficulty breathing.
