Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you looking for a way to make a difference in people's lives? If so, consider becoming a hospice volunteer.

Hospice gives patients who are facing a life-limiting illness the freedom to live ALL the days of their lives by offering comfort, dignity and quality of life. As a hospice volunteer, and an important part of our hospice care team, you can help improve the quality of life for our patients, as well as their families and caregivers.

Volunteers make supportive phone calls to families, visit with patients wherever they live - at home, or at an assisted living facility or nursing home - assist with activities at senior living centers, write encouraging notes for patients and their families, sew or knit items such as adult clothing protectors, fidget items, and prayer shawls, assist with making items such as memory boxes. Perhaps the most helpful service volunteers can provide is something called volunteer respite visits. These visits allow time for the family member who is the caregiver to take care of his or her own medical appointments, complete family errands, or just have a few hours to rest - to have a much-needed "break".

Volunteers help provide the "extra mile" type of service we want to give the people whom we serve!

Time is valuable. And, at the end of life, every moment matters. Consider giving some of your time to make others' lives brighter. You may find that your own life becomes brighter too.

Orientation, TB Test, and a background check are required and are provided by Amedisys.
