1 person is interested
We are looking for a Spanish-speaking man who is interested in mentoring an 18-year-old refugee from Guatemala. This youth has been in the United States since October of 2019. He spent time at two of Bethany's residential group homes, and he now lives at our Independent Living Plus home in Wyoming. He tends to be quite shy until he builds rapport, but he interacts well with his peers and Bethany staff and is respectful. He reports he does enjoy going out instead of staying inside. He enjoys listening to music, making music videos, watching movies, going to the gym (YMCA) and playing soccer. This youth is interested in exploring the city, having help with schoolwork, and learning new skills. He enjoys outdoor activities, sports, videogames, cooking, and art. This youth reports he is interested in learning to drive once he is able, is interested in exploring future careers and reports he is interested in being a solider/in the army, a car mechanic, and also reports interest in construction/building houses.

Mission Statement
Bethany demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families through quality social services.
Description
For refugees fleeing danger, the search for safety can be extremely challenging. And too often, people become numbers in a system that can feel impossible to navigate. That’s why we guide, protect, advocate for, and support refugees. In the U.S., we offer resettlement and continued support services in strategic locations.
Bethany Christian Services' Refugee and Immigrant Services program encompasses adult and family resettlement as well as refugee foster care for Unaccompanied Children and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Our services for unaccompanied refugee youth include case management, counseling, housing (foster homes, group homes, independent living), classes (New Arrival, Life Skills, driver's training), and volunteer mentoring and tutoring.
