Mission Statement

Friends of History (FoH) is a support group for the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe, NM (NMHM) organized under the by-laws of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation (MNMF). The mission of the FOH is to (1) assist the MNMF in fund development to support the annual exhibition and educational programs of the New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governors; (2) assist with special projects as needed; (3) and promote an awareness and appreciation of the mission of NMHM, which is "Sharing New Mexico’s history to recognize, strengthen and empower the communities we serve."

Friends of History accomplishes its mission by:
1. Offering a public program of historical walking tours in downtown Santa Fe led by museum-trained docents.
2. Producing a public lecture series featuring recognized scholars that illuminates the diverse history of New Mexico.
3. Creating and lead an annual slate of historical tours, field trips, and events that deepen understanding of people, places, and events in New Mexico History.
4. Creating and participating in other fundraising, awareness, and support activities as need in cooperation with NMHM and MNMF.
