The Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County is a comprehensive center where community partners co-locate services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The FJC brings civil, legal, medical and social service experts together to provide survivors and their families multiple options to restores balance to their lives.
Volunteers at the FJC support the foundations of the agency's mission and vision, and help to create a warm, welcoming, comfortable environment where victims of domestic violence can easily access expert community resources so healing can begin and victims can become survivors, empowered to restore balance to their lives, free from fear and force.
FJC volunteers assist staff and survivors of domestic violence in a variety of ways that support services for clients. Direct service opportunities are always greatly needed, and require a minimum of one regularly scheduled shift per week, weekday mornings or afternoons (9am to 12noon or 12noon to 5pm). Students from area colleges are welcome to volunteer or complete a class internship. Volunteer opportunities include:
Receptionist- Assist with reception duties; greet and direct visitors and phone calls.

The Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County is an innovative collaboration of civil, legal, medical and social services whose expertise provides victims of domestic violence and their families multiple options to restore balance to their lives.
Description
The Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County, opened February 2007, is one of 15 sites nationwide chosen to be a comprehensive co-located center providing services for victims of domestic violence. Funded by a Federal grant through the U. S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, the goal of the FJC is to bring resources for victims of domestic violence and their children into one location, thereby improving access to the services already provided by the community.
We provide the following services:
Civil/legal assistance
Information regarding orders of protection
Crisis intervention
Sexual Assault Follow-up Clinic
Counseling for adults
Criminal investigations
Culturally & linguistically appropriate services
Assessments for children who witness domestic violence
Domestic Violence Advocates
