Email Marketing Specialist (Volunteer)

WhoWhatWhy is a nonpartisan, agenda-free news organization; we report the truth, whatever it is. We approach each story with an open mind, and impunity from institutional agendas and groupthink influence.

We are a nonprofit. We are not funded by a zillionaire. We do not accept corporate ads.

Age is not a factor for our team. Intelligence and commitment are the most important metrics. Our team is made up of young students, vibrant retirees, and everyone in between, from all around the world.

WhoWhatWhy has an opening for a Mailing List Specialist to help us plan and execute strong digital giving campaigns. This role will work to establish and reach major fundraising goals on behalf of WWW.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and execution of WhoWhatWhy’s digital fundraising campaigns, including email appeals and engagement, Short Message Service (SMS), and social media fundraising messaging
  • Support the management and development of our donor and prospect list size and quality.
  • Deliver on our revenue growth goals set by the overall fundraising team plan
  • Create multi-channel communications for donors to ensure that interactions with WhoWhatWhy are frequent and of high quality.
  • Participate in creating strategy, facilitating email mailings and developing customized, donor-centric outreach that achieves high conversion, retention, and acquisition according to our donor funnel.
  • Ensure WhoWhatWhy charity rating profiles are complete and up-to-date.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing and IT teams to develop and execute online campaigns and online advertising to build a constituent base for advocacy and fundraising purposes.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation abilities
  • A solid grasp of - and commitment to - our mission
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Previous nonprofit development experience a plus
  • Highly reliable, extremely organized, and detail-oriented
  • Able to set deadlines and ensure timely completion of deliverables

Expectations

You will be expected to attend your department’s recurring meetings. Beyond this, you will work on your own schedule. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months for at least 10 hours a week. Because our team is spread throughout the world, we rely on a combination of Slack, email, and conference calls, and expect everyone to be responsive in a timely manner.
