Our organization is seeking a board member who has major event planning experience to find new opportunities and implement fundraising goals. As we grow, so does our budget and we need additional dedicated people to help us meet said budget each year and beyond. The right candidate will be able to represent West Place appropriately, and will be able to work independently to achieve their goals. You can directly help us maintain a clear path toward our future endeavors.

In order to assist our financial growth, we also look toward the willingness of our board members to provide an annual monetary donation that they feel is reasonable and appropriate, to the best of their financial ability. We anticipate that each board member will seek to raise or otherwise bring to the organization a minimum of $10,000 or more each year.

We do expect that a board member appreciate that being on a board is a commitment, and does require work and dedication. Board members come on to the board during their first year as a probationary member. After a successful first year, a board member will then be voted on for a three-year term, which can be extended after three years.

Please note that board turnover sets us back and therefore we need to take steps to avoid it. In order for our organization to take the time to meet, interview, obtain all the required paperwork, train you on our board, get you familiar with West Place and get you started on a project, we need any prospective board member to confirm the following:
- You will be able to give us several hours of volunteering a week, or the equivalent throughout the course of a year
- You will be available for quarterly meetings
- You will use our internal app to communicate and will actively communicate with the board and staff
- You will be given and will use a West Place email address for external West Place communications
- You do not expect to move out of the area over the next few years
- You do not anticipate a significant job/career/life change over the next few years
- Even with most changes in life, you will be able to be an active and productive board member

(Please also note that we are currently not hiring and this is a volunteer board position. If you are seeking to turn this volunteer opportunity into a full-time job, there will be significantly more requirements).

Please do look at our website. Not only will it show you a great deal about our organization, but you'll learn that our executive director was named a "2017 Rhode Islander of the Year," and gave a TEDx Talk in 2018, both related to her work with West Place.

We thank you in advance for your interest in joining this incredible organization. We hope you will choose to be a part of this wonderful organization.
