Star City hospice was founded on the many principles one being that when someone is within their final hours that no one will be alone. The basic value of hospice care is that no one should die alone without the support or the presence of loved ones. Eleventh-hour All-stars are a group of elite trained volunteers that keep vigil and provide that supportive presence to patient and families in their most vulnerable precious final hours of life.
Often, patients find themselves alone during their last day because they have limited or no family close-by. All-stars are able to fill in when a loved one cannot or when family members need a break or support for themselves during this time by offering warmth, compassion, concern, and a healing touch. Simply offering gestures like sitting with the patient and/or family, holdings hands, praying, or sharing in silence makes a world of difference during such a difficult time.
This unique service is offered around the clock and it does not matter the location- in private houses, assisted living facilities, or group homes- our All-stars will be there.

Mission Statement
Our mission at Star City hospice is to bring specialized care to patients and families facing a life limiting illness by meeting, listening, and assessing where each patient and family are in their journey. We provide unsurpassable hospice services while supporting everyone with an individualized plan of care, kindness, and unrelenting compassion.
Description
Star City was founded with the idea of providing the very best care to our patients and families with increased bedside presence. This philosophy allows the interdisciplinary team to be present with patients and families when they need us the most and to be able to anticipate their changes in care while providing education along the way. Our personal best is to make sure that no one makes this journey alone. Our interdisciplinary team is made up of the hospice physician, nursing staff, aides, social worker, spiritual support, therapists, and most important our community of volunteers.
We invite you to consider becoming a volunteer. Our volunteers work side by side with hospice professionals in providing comfort and care when they are needed most in both direct and indirect contact. Our Volunteers vary in age, life experiences, and professional backgrounds and frequently feel a deep sense of satisfaction at being able to help someone at the end of their life. We want our volunteers to feel as though they've made a real, significant contribution to their community. Hospice volunteers also get to make deep connections with patients and their families.
