ORGANIZATION: L.A. Works



Join us on MLK Day and lead virtual, interactive opportunity fair panel discussions! You will guide volunteers through sharing their professional experiences to students and parents at our virtual, interactive College/Career Fair.

On the day of the event, you will be assigned as a moderator for a Zoom breakout room and given a discussion topic to lead. Topics will range from College Life to Financial Aid to Career Path. You will be responsible for ensuring that questions from students and parents are answered and that all volunteer panelists have the opportunity to share their experiences. You will lead three 25-minute sessions in the same breakout room, giving students and parents the opportunity to hear three different topics, should they choose.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Training: One live, virtual training on either Saturday 1/8/2022 10 am PST - 11:30 am PST or Tuesday 1/11/2022 6 pm PST - 7:30 pm PST

Event: The fair will run from 1:30 pm PST - 3:30 pm PST on Monday, January 17, 2022.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

A computer with a strong internet connection

A mic and speakers/headphones for conversations

Knowledge/Comfort with zoom/break out rooms

LOCATION: This opportunity takes place online. Project Leaders will be provided with the next steps upon signing up.

MLK DAY OF SERVICE: This is part of L.A. Works' MLK Jr. Day of Service 2022 to honor Dr. King's life and legacy. The day-long, choose your own adventure service experience builds upon the anti-racism movement through an interactive March on Washington via Minecraft and many other virtual and in-person service opportunities.
